Q. Do you support all operating systems?

A. We will try and assist in any computer related matters; however, we support Windows 2000, Windows XP and Vista.

 

Q. What are security patches?

A. When operating systems and software are released there are often security flaws that hackers exploit that allow them to 'take over' your computer. As these exploits are found, security patches are released to address them and must be applied immediately.

 

Q. I have anti-virus software, surely I am safe from security problems?

A. Anti-virus and spyware programs are good but it is essential that they are regularly updated. Once a week is not enough, if there is a major attack it is essential for updates to be done immediately otherwise you are likely to be infected.  As well as this, anti-virus software does not protect your computer from operating system and software security flaws.

 

Q. What software do you support?

A. We support a wide range of PC software including Microsoft Office, itunes and Picasssa.

Q. Are there any other costs?

A. No, but zuuAssist reserve the right to terminate or charge extra (with the customer's permission) annual or monthly subscribers who we feel are abusing the support service.

 
Q. Do I have to have broadband to use your service?

A. It is not necessary to have broadband, however, in order for zuuAssist to continually monitor and update your security patches it is necessary to have broadband otherwise updates will be sporadic. If you only have dial-up you can also still benefit from the free support time offered in the Monthly and Annual subscriptions.

Q. What is offsite backup?

A. Offsite backup means a copy of your data is stored securely away from your home or business so that if any catastrophe such as fire, theft or hardware failure was to occur you could very simply replace the computer and restore your data.

Q. Why should I back up my data?

A. Whether at home or the office you store more and more critical data on your computer, ranging from digital photographs, emails and contacts for householders, to customer data, sales contacts and company financial information for businesses.  Computers do fail, are stolen and are lost in fires. When this occurs this digital information is lost forever. Your insurance policy will buy you new hardware but everything else is lost.


Q. Why should I back up my home computer?

A. Your home computer is now becoming more and more part of life at home. It is where you store you email, digital photographs and key data.

Just imagine losing all of those hundreds of photographs of children's birthdays, holidays, weddings, sporting events. No longer do you have the negative to make copies. If you lose your computer you lose everything.

Do I have to remember to do anything to back my data up?

A. Once the zuuBackup software is installed and you have decided which folders to back up, how frequently to back them up (we recommend daily) and at what time, the process is automatic so long as your computer is switched on and connected to the Internet at this time. If it is not the back up will occur the next time you are connected to the Internet.

How much does it cost?

A. The cost of zuuBackup depends on what you are backing up. If you are just backing up a single computer with just files then the cost is £7.99 (inc. VAT) a month or £79.90 if paid for annually. This enables you to backup up to 20GB of data. Additional units of 20GB can be purchased at anytime.

If you wish to backup a server, databases or networked computers then you need the Pro version of the software which costs £16.99 (inc. VAT) or £169.90 if paid for annually for 5GB of data backed up. Additional storage 5GB units can be purchased at anytime.


Q. What if I go over my initial storage amount and how do I buy additional space?

A. If you go over the original storage space you have bought you will be notified by email and you will have the option to buy additional space. You will be billed pro rata till the end of the year when all of your storage space is then billed together.


Q. How secure is my data?

A. zuuMedia, the company behind zuuBackup takes the security of your data very seriously, which is why your data is encrypted  on your computer with 128Bit encryption before being sent to our secure data centre. The data centre where your data is stored has been created specifically for the secure storage of data. Your data is stored encrypted and only becomes decrypted if you need to restore your data. Q. How do I restore your data?

A. You have two options, you can either use the zuuBackup software installed on your computer or access your backed up files through a web browser.  In either case it's very straight forward, you choose whether to restore individual files, computers or everything you backed up from several computers, then simply click restore.  Naturally, zuuBackup staff are on hand 24/7 to assist you should you require it.


Q. Is there a cost to restore my data?

A. No.
