With most things, if we
don't take care of them and maintain them on a regular basis, over time
they degrade and performance is affected. Whether it's your
car getting serviced and MOT'd, removing the lime scale from the kettle
or maintaining a relationship - you shouldn't ignore their up
keep. The same holds true for computers.
Some things, like the car, are done by experts (usually at quite a high
cost), other things, like the kettle, can be done by ourselves.
Computers fall in the same category as cars, they require regular
ongoing maintenance to ensure they are performing properly and to
minimise the chance of serious problems occurring. While some
people can service computers themselves, most can't and even many of
those who can, don't want to spend their free time servicing their
computers - especially when they can have someone else do it.
This is one of the things that zuuMedia does for its members, a
quarterly servicing of each computer. In fact zuuMedia are
proactive in this regard - we even chase members to remind them its
time for a servicing - believeing strongly that an ounce of prevention
is worth a pound of cure, which makes for happy members.
So what is a zuuMedia computer servicing. It's:
- ensuring that your computer operating system (the OS) is
fully patched and up to date and downloading and installing anything
that is missing.
- ensuring that the software you run is securely patched and
up to date and downloading and installing any missing up dates.
- ensuring that your security software is up to date and
functioning properly and then running a series of anti-spyware,
anti-virus and anti-rootkit pieces of software to ensure nothing has
snuck through - remember, a computer virus is just like a flu virus, a
vaccination cannot be put in place until the virus is first released,
so some may sneak through no matter of how vigilant you are.
- defragging the hard drive to ensure it's operating at its
best.
- checking what 'starts up' when the computer is turned on so
that processor power is not wasted on software when you are not running
it.
- creating a system restore point, both before and after the
servicing, to ensure that you always have a 'good' fall back.
As you can see, zuuMedia strives to ensure that members' use and enjoyment of the computer is as hassle free as possible by doing the actual work for them and being proactive.
